The Maker

Hi, it's me Jenny!

Thanks for checking out my shop (:

I'm the maker behind Ceramics by Jenny.  Each piece of pottery is dreamt up, wheel thrown and hand painted by me, plus all the other magic steps in-between!

I grew up in Vancouver with a big love of photography, art, bikes with baskets, thrifting, and craft beer.  While attending Emily Carr University to gain my BFA in Photography, I worked as a brewer's assistant at Granville Island Brewing.  I enjoyed lots of big city biking, met my husband, moved to the island, taught a whole lot of art classes with kids and eventually started a daycare! I began making pottery at home for fun in 2019. I thought I could ease into making it a job once my kids were school age. But as 2020 taught us, plans change.

I've never been able to shake my love for bright colours, flowers, rainbows, and polkadots. So when I got into clay, it only felt natural to let those happy, swirling patterns and colours pour out of my brain and into my work.

I am a part-time potter; living, creating, and raising small humans on beautiful Vancouver Island in Duncan, BC. My path to ceramics was long (especially now that I know what I was missing), but I am so thrilled to be here now, creating beautiful and functional pieces to inspire your daily rituals.
